Wednesday September 30th

Last week boulders were moved to the stream crossing at Woodward to deter motorized vehicles as tracks indicate it is a well used entry point. Additionally, area trails were cleared of debris and nearby invasives and the restored bench was placed at the Niederman-Sizer field on a bed of wood chips to suppress weeds.

This week, after the nor’easter, we will clear the trails at the Hidden Brook, Carrington and Whispering Pines preserves in advance of a hike scheduled for October 11.  Useful tools will include leaf blowers, loppers, and possibly small saws and/or chainsaws.  We don’t yet know how much debris came down, but it’s highly likely there are branches and deadfalls on the trails.

We will meet at the Car Park, 101 Russell Rd, on Wednesday at 9.
