Last week one crew worked at Hein, clearing the trails and cutting up the downed trees. The other crew worked at the entrance to Woodward that motorized vehicles have been using. Using a come-along and other tools, they were able to augment the stone fence with much larger boulders. However, yesterday a couple of dirt bikers got through, so that crew is invited back on Wednesday to reinforce the left side.
Those not going to Woodward are invited to the Niederman-Sizer Field where the bench honoring Stephen Collins (one of the land trust founders) is located. Currently the bench is being repaired, and this is a good time to tackle the poison ivy and invasives. But be sure to wear long pants and long sleeves, as the poison ivy is fairly lush. A third option for those averse to this project is clearing the trail at Welch, just down Sperry Road from that location.
So, for those doing boulder work at Woodward, the crew will meet on Clifford Drive just beyond 46 Mesa Drive. For Niederman-Sizer Field, the address is 406 Sperry. For Welch, the address is 398 Sperry.
