The Split Rock – Podoloff trail easements were acquired by the Land Trust in 1997 and 2002, respectively, as the result of open space set asides from subdivision developments.
Trail:
The two easements are connected by an easy north-south trail about 2500 feet in length. Starting from the northern entrance at Split Rock Road circle, the trail parallels and crosses a small streambed before it follows a wall and then turns east. Turning south near a wetland, the trail climbs a rocky slope before it emerges on Russell Road. Access to the nearby Hidden Brook Preserve via the unimproved section of Atwater Road in just a short walk east up Russell Road.
