Join the Bethany Land Trust Loop Trail Hall of Fame

Hike the new loop trails to get a commemorative pin and a Bethany Land Trust T-shirt. To earn a coveted spot in the Bethany Land Trust Loop Trail Hall of Fame, hikers must complete hiking both scenic loop trails: the 4.4-mile Southern Blue Loop Trail and the 4.2-mile Northern Green Loop Trail.  Detailed maps with parking for the trails including GPS maps for use with hiking apps can be found on the Land Trust website.

Each trail offers unique landscapes and challenges, providing an enriching outdoor experience for those who seek adventure and connection with nature in Bethany.

The 4.4-mile Southern Blue Loop Trail connects the Bethany Farms parcels with Whispering Pines, Hidden Brook Preserve, and the Town’s Carrington Preserve. The Blue Loop Trail also includes trails in the Bladen’s Brook and Russell Swamp in Woodbridge, where it also connects with the Woodbridge Greenway Trails System. While trails in each of the preserves have different color blazes, the Southern Blue Loop Trail is marked by metal blue circular disks. The parking area at 101 Russell Road is the best place to start although access with both roadside parking is available at several locations.

The 4.2-mile Northern Green Loop Trail connects trails in Mendell’s Folly, the Grobe, Van Epps and Woodward Nature Preserves as well as the Town’s Simpson Preserve and Veterans Park. This loop trail brings hikers through a portion of the Naugatuck State Forest. While trails in each of the preserves have different color blazes, metal green circular disks mark the loop trail through these parcels. Access with both roadside and off-street parking is available at several locations.

To apply for inclusion in the Hall of Fame, all you have to do is hike both trails and take photos of your favorite spots on each trail. Then, submit your name, dates that you hiked the trails along with your photos, t-shirt size, and contact information including email address to BethanyLandTrustCT@gmail.com.

Once approved, we will:

  • List your name and photos on the Loop Trail Hall of Fame page on the Land Trust website
  • Announce your membership in the Loop Trail Hall of Fame in our monthly newsletter and Facebook page
  • Send you a Land Trust t-shirt and pin

Becoming a member is not just about the physical achievement; it is also a celebration of dedication to local conservation and community spirit. Joining the Hall of Fame is a rewarding way to commemorate your journey and inspire others to explore the beauty of Bethany’s preserved lands.
