Last week, we slashed through the wilds of Hershmann’s Hollow, removing invasives from the trail’s entry on Carrington Road and clearing the loop trail in the parcel’s interior. A few of us decided to renew the seeming Sisyphean task of repairing the rock wall blocking access to Woodward by motorized vehicles – Sisyphean in that once again, after our hard work last week, the wall was breached a day later, activity that was out of the motion activation range of our camera.
This week, we’re planning have one crew do trail clearing in the Hein Trails while another does rock barricade building in Woodward:
1. Trail clearing in the Hein Trails for one crew; meet at the trail entrance at the intersection Tuttle and Carrington Roads; bring loppers and other trail clearing tools. I will meet folks there who wish to clear the trails with a map that has locations of some of the areas to be cleared before I head over to Woodward.
2. Rock barricade building in Woodward for another crew; bring metal bars, shovels, come-alongs and a team of oxen. Joe will be leading the charge. Bart will be joining us as well.
