Wednesday July 15th

Last week we worked on the upper area of Whispering Pines off Village Lane.  Now that this entry area is getting a lot of sun, many invasives are thriving, so we worked to reduce them.  Two Amity High students joined us for the invasive species removal.   Additionally, trails were cleared and trees and limbs were removed from them.

This week we are planning to work at Carrington Lowell and possibly the trails at Hidden Brook need work before Sunday’s hike, but we won’t know until tomorrow.   The trails at Carrington Lowell need clearing, and the center areas always have a lot of briar growth on both sides.  Additionally there is at least one tree down across the trail.  Useful tools will include hedge trimmers, weed whackers, invasive removal tools and a chainsaw.  If we also need to work at Hidden Brook, I will let everyone know Tuesday and we can split up.

For now, we all should plan to meet at the end of Cedar Lane and park in the turnaround.
