Last week we cleared trails, fought back invasives and surveyed the stream and pond making our way through what seemed like a jungle, to determine the extent of recently built beaver dams, some of which could potentially flood neighboring properties. We will meet with a consultant from the Beaver Institute next week to discuss options.
This week, we are returning to the Parking Area at 101 Russell Road. The shrubs we recently planted are under assault by an invasion of Japanese Knotweed, which we will need to address. Additionally, we have a donation of 15 Carex Pennsylvanica sedges to plant, and the last load of wood chips has arrived and needs to be spread.
Useful tools will include wheelbarrows and pitchforks for the wood chips, and digging tools and pruners for the landscaped area. If there is time, we also need to remove poison ivy and Japanese barberry.
We will meet at 9 AM on Wednesday June 24 at 101 Russell Road.
