Last week at 101 Russell Road (the parking area we have been working on) we distributed 2 more huge piles of wood chips, planted a variety of native shrubs and what will become 2 small trees, and took down the deer stand. Thanks to our neighbor, Carlos, the plants got a good watering. This must be continued throughout the summer so that the roots can take hold.
This week we will change our focus to work at Rodell’s Roost and Delano Sanctuary. There are quite a few trees down across the trail, and there are many invasives. So, we will work on clearing the trails and tackling the invasives. Useful tools will include chainsaws, leaf blowers, loppers and root slayers and other tools for tackling the invasives.
It will be entirely in the shade, but you may want to also bring water.
We will meet behind the Congregational Church at 511 Amity Road, in the far corner of the parking lot, Wednesday morning at 9 AM.
