The Bethany Land Trust series of hikes for 2025 got off to a rousing start with close to 40 hikers joining us for our First Day Hike on New Year\u2019s Day 2025. On an overcast afternoon, we hiked 2.5 miles through Whispering Pines and the Carrington Preserve to reach the Land Trust\u2019s newest addition, the Hidden Brook Preserve. Upon our return, we snacked on homemade treats, cider, and chocolate-covered Oreos, departing for home just before the late afternoon showers began. Great way to start the New Year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following is the preliminary list of planned hikes for 2025; most of the hikes are planned for the afternoon of the first Sunday of every month with a couple of exceptions. We hope you are able to join us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

April<\/strong> \u2013 National Poetry Month hike in Mendell\u2019s Folly with poetry readings<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May<\/strong> \u2013 Early morning birding walk in Mendell\u2019s to see birds returning from migration<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June<\/strong> \u2013 Connecticut Trails Day on June 8: a loop hike in northwest Bethany preserves\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

July<\/strong> \u2013 BioBlitz in Whispering Pines\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

August <\/strong>\u2013 Geology hike in Three Sisters Preserve\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

September <\/strong>\u2013 Wild mushroom hike on Bethany Farms trails<\/p>\n\n\n\n

October<\/strong> \u2013 Hike along trails in the Bethany\u2019s Veteran\u2019s Park and the Simpson Preserve, soon to be acquired by the Town of Bethany<\/p>\n\n\n\n

November<\/strong> \u2013 Night hike in the Van Epps Preserve around that month\u2019s super moon\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
